Great advice Ryan. Core training is clearly vital to avoiding injury while skiing, especially early in the season when the body hasn't caught up to the brain. A strong core creates balance too.

Our core i.e. abs and low back are the foundation on which all balance and athletic moves depend. There are roughly 30 muscles that are part of the core. For most people their is just one the six pack. It is an important one but it's not even the biggest one.
